Nice Stripes!

This is how I cook - with a baby in the sink.

Dentist

Ollie had his first trip to the dentist today.  We were so worried because his teeth are flat from grinding them in his sleep.  I didn't even think about cavities!  He has four!  We have to cut back on the milk and brush after every meal.  We go back in a few weeks to get them filled.  I will let you know how it goes.  (The doc says there is nothing you can do about teeth grinding in a preschooler!)

Batman

One afternoon during Penny's nap, I am doing the dishes in the kitchen.  Ollie is playing Batman castle in the living room.
Ollie: "Mom, can you stay in the kitchen for a minute?"
Me: "Yes, I am doing the dishes......why?"
Ollie:  "Because I am doing something dangerous."
Me: "Oh, can I see?"

He was standing on top of the back of the couch about to jump off.  I convinced him that the seat of the couch was a better idea.  Do you like his cape?

Oh, Swim Class

As with Lolo, Ollie loves to swim, but for some reason he really disliked swim class.  We made it through all four 1/2 hour sessions with multiple episodes of tears and fear.  He was often asked to throw a rubber duck across the pool then walk to go get it, and sit on the side of the pool and kick and splash.  We are still confused as to what went wrong.  These are pics from lesson #4 where he talked his way out of several of the activities including jumping in the pool.  Oh Ollie!

Sweating with the Kerrs

We met Hannah, Olive, and Megan at Antioch park last week for a playdate.  Ollie thinks Hannah is pretty great.  I am sure that Penny with soon be enjoying Olive as well.  It was wicked hot!  I finally got Penny down to just a diaper and let Ollie run through the landscaping sprinkler, because I have super sweating kids.  The highlight of the playdate was when we where feeding the ducks and GEESE.  Hannah pet a goose.  She is super brave.  Ollie talked about how brave Hannah is for touching a goose all the way home.

5 months

I know that I am late for Penny's 5 month post, but Time Warner Cable (our former cable/phone/internet company) took a week to get around to fixing our connection.  This little girl is such a silly, calm, curious baby.  She is now eating carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, and squash, as well as cereal.  She likes to eat and has no current "favorites".  She can roll over and would love to learn to crawl.  Her brother is still her favorite toy/person/plaything and the feeling is mutual.  I hope to post a video soon where she tries to eat Ollie.  Her second favorite toy is her feet.  She loves to suck on her toes.  Sweet Penny baby!   We are thinking of starting to call her Nell instead of Penny - Any comments?

Penny's first meal

While in OK, Penny got to have her first food!  She has been VERY interested in watching us eat, so we decided it was time.  She was a pro.  She ate a whole bowl and is surprisingly neat.  She loves cereal.  Coming soon - pics of carrot eating.

Oklahoma Trip

All four of us went down to Oklahoma for a visit last week.  Then, Penny and I headed back to KC for a few days while I tutored.  Ollie and Wes had fun playing in the pool and shooting fireworks (Ollie is still a little scared of them).  We have more pictures, but Ollie is naked in most of them.

Penny with Dick and Ginny

We are so lucky to have a loving extended family.  Here are 2 great pictures with Dick and Ginny.

Dino-mite!

Goofy smile on a raptor!  We headed to Crown Center for the Dinosaur educational play area with Grammy and PopPop.  Ollie had a blast.  Penny thought it was too noisy to nap.
You could email a picture to yourself.  So of course we had to do that!

KB and Avah came to visit!

My good friend KB and her darling daughter Avah, 4, came to visit last week.  They could only stay for one day, and it was another super hot day.  We had fun just cooling off in the kiddie pool.
